Syed Delaor Husaein

(1893 – 1992)

Sayed Delaor Husaein, a Sufi Saint and a author of Maizbhanderi Sufi Order, whose works represented the thought and rituals of this Sufi order in an academic approach through the movement promoting music based religious pluralism.

The Maizbhandari Sufi order is a liberated Sufism order established in 19th century by Hazrat Shah Sufi Syed Ahmadullah Maizbhandari. (1826-1906). Based in Chittagong (now Chattagram) district, Bangladesh, it is renowned for its open spiritual method or Sufi way of practicing Shariah, Tariqah, Hakikah and Marifat.

The order is known for its gatherings for spiritual listening and devotional music, which are important in Bengali Sufi traditions, There are over 10,000 such songs, transmitted orally at first but now on CD
